To everyone who used or still uses the public transport service through Slaley Parish:
- Earlier this year (February) you provided details of your usage and/or needs from the daily coach service. Slaley Parish Council intends to submit a six month review in September to Ian Coe, Passenger Transport Manager at County Hall, detailing the hardships experienced, or the success, of the revised single daily bus service. Basically we need to know if the single daily service has reduced the quality of life for you and if so how.
- The previous 870 service provided four daily trips into Hexham and four trips from Hexham. Since April the 689 single daily journey is due at Slaley Townhead at 10.24, arriving at Hexham by 10.39. Departure from Hexham is at 13.11 and arrival at Townhead 13.26. Four journeys remain for a Saturday.
Central Government recently announced the Local Sustainable Transport Fund, which allows local authorities (NCC not Slaley Parish Council) to bid for additional funding to support economic growth and reduce carbon emissions. £10 million of new funding has also been distributed to rural local transport authorities in England to support and kick start the development of community transport services in their area. How, if at all, this will effect our local bus service is still to be determined.
Your assistance with collating the necessary information to make a researched six-month review would be greatly appreciated.

The Parish Council would appreciate your comments by September 5th.
