At present, we are still planning to show "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" on Friday, January 15th. If the weather deteriorates we may review this decision, and will announce any changes here.
We hope that people might welcome a night out without having to travel too far, and this is a sunny romantic comedy from Woody Allen, with two young American women on holiday in Barcelona, an amorous Spanish painter and his volatile ex-wife. The supper will be a warming Spanish broth!
One reviewer concludes: "the actors are attractive, the city is magnificent, the love scenes don't get all sweaty, and everybody finishes the summer a little wiser and with a lifetime of memories. What more could you ask?"
Emergency help in this current cold spell. Slaley Parish Council has purchased from Matthew Charlton a large Dumpy bag of rock salt and it was hoepfully delivered to Parks Side bungalows in Slaley village on Thursday. This is free to all Slaley parishioners. As you will have heard on the TV salt is running very low so if used carefully this should provide some safety around private doorways and paths until the cold spell ends.
Northumberland County Council have the following help on its website.
We would urge anyone who is having real and serious difficulties regarding access to medical or other critical supplies and has genuine concerns to ring our contact centre on 0845 600 6400. We would also urge residents who know they have elderly neighbours to contact them and ask if they need anything as they may have difficulty getting to shops etc in these conditions.
