Slaley Show began in 1845, starting with classes for flowers and horticulture. It has moved to much wider scope and now includes classes and demonstration of sheep, alpacas, chickens, horses, baking, handicrafts and wood turning. There are many different demonstrations and types of entertainment laid on in the main ring. The craft tent and the field are filled with stalls for craft goods and countryside produce.
Last years show (2011) was only the 3rd to be cancelled due to rain. The show has otherwise run continuously with only breaks for world wars and foot and mouth outbreaks.
The show is organised by a volunteer committee with help from many other volunteers. Planning starts as soon as the gates close on the previous show. Volunteers for preparation in the week before and on the on the day are very welcome – if you would like to help, please contact us using info@slaleyshow.org.uk

We had our most successful ever Slaley Show – perfect weather for a show day, many visitors (helped by our secretary being interviewed live on the BBC!) and we finished the day with a hog roast whilst watching Mo Farah win the 10,000m on a large screen.
Many thanks to the helpers we had on the day – sorting parking kept everyone busy!
So now the planning starts for 2013 – show will be on Saturday 10th August.
We are always looking for volunteers who can help through the year – not just show day – please contact info@slaleyshow.org.uk if you are interested.
Here’s to another good show next year!
