Slaley Show began in 1845, starting with classes for flowers and horticulture. It has moved to much wider scope and now includes classes and demonstration of sheep, alpacas, chickens, horses, baking, handicrafts and wood turning. There are many different demonstrations and types of entertainment laid on in the main ring. The craft tent and the field are filled with stalls for craft goods and countryside produce.
This year (2011) is the 152nd show, the show having run continuously though with for breaks for world wars, foot and mouth outbreaks and heavy rain (though the show was only cancelled twice for rain!).
The show is organised by a committee with many other volunteers. Planning starts as soon as the gates close on the previous show.
The Show has its own website, which you will find here!
