Slaley Commemoration Hall presents:
An Exhibition of Cribs from Around the World
Slaley Commemoration Hall is holding an exhibition entitled “Cribs from Around the World” over the final weekend in November 2020.
Countries celebrate Christmas with different traditions, for the majority Christmas means the birth of Christ and traditionally that birth is accepted as taking place in a stable. Here at the Hall, we will be exhibiting cribs to show how countries make their Christmas Crib unique to them.
A Spanish Crib, for example, typically includes a young boy who is relieving himself!
Each Crib will have a map of the area and props to expand their individual exhibition.
Alongside the cribs, one of Slaley’s craft ladies is presenting an installation entitled “While Slaley Sleeps” with the idea being that while each country sleeps other countries around the world are celebrating.
The exhibition will take place on:
· Friday evening November 27th 4 – 9 p.m.
· Saturday November 28th 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
· Sunday November 29th 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.
The exhibition will take place under the COVID-19 guidelines in place at the time.
£5 entrance fee towards Phase 2 of the £100k for 100 years appeal for the Slaley Commemoration Hall.
