My name is Angela Hayward and I am delighted to have been appointed as the new Headteacher of Slaley First School. I am thrilled to be part of your wonderful community and have thoroughly enjoyed my first 3 weeks in post.

The children have settled back into school life really well. They are working hard and having fun alongside their friends. On Saturday 11th September, a number of our pupils took part in the Slaley Leek Show held at the Commemoration Hall. The Junior Competition was well attended and prizes were awarded at school during our Praise Assembly.

Also, on Friday 24th September, the children took part in the Macmillan Coffee Morning and Mrs Seymour, our cook, made us some wonderful cakes which we enjoyed at morning break time. With the help of 'Friends of Slaley School' (FOSS), we have so far managed to raise £205 for Cancer Support. We are so proud of our wonderful pupils, they are a real credit to their families and to our school. I look forward to keeping in touch with the community through the Slaley Parish News and keeping you informed of upcoming events we are involved in.

Take Care everyone,

Mrs. Angela Hayward

'Pupil numbers are small and relationships are strong.  Every adult knows each pupil extremely well. This enables them to adapt teaching to meet every child's individual needs.'

The school has its own website, where you will find much more information:

The Friends of Slaley School (FOSS) is the name of Slaley First School's Parent Teacher Association. We have an open membership which means that as a parent/guardian/teacher of a child at the school you automatically become a member of Friends of Slaley School and are welcome to attend meetings (again, more details can be found on the school's website).

In a recent questionnaire one parent said:

"Slaley First School is a fantastic school in every way.  You have created a wonderful nurturing environment for children to learn, develop and grow." July 2019.

100% of pupils and parents agree that Slaley First School is a safe and happy place to be - Parent & Pupil questionnaire feedback, July 2019.
