My name is Angela Hayward and I have the privileged job of being Headteacher of Slaley First
school. I am just beginning my second year in post and I feel very lucky to be the Headteacher of
this lovely school which is situated at the heart of the Slaley community.

Our school strapline is ‘Nurturing Ambitious Individuals’ and that is exactly what we do.

We take great care of our children and encourage them to be ambitious in their own individual
ways.

Last year we worked very hard on our school environment and we have uploaded a number of
photographs of this onto our school website. Please free to take a look –
https://www.slaley.northumberl...

Our school runs Breakfast and After School clubs and we pride ourselves in offering the very best
education. We enjoy working together with our parents and community in order to give the
children the best possible experiences we can. If you would like to come and look around the
school, please feel free to give us a ring; you will be more than welcome!

Kind regards,
Mrs Hayward

Following its last inspection by Ofsted in February 2019, the report stated that:

'There is a tangible sense of purpose, energy and uncompromising ambition to see all pupils flourish, both academically and in their all-round development.'

Rugby Team Success

'Pupil numbers are small and relationships are strong.  Every adult knows each pupil extremely well. This enables them to adapt teaching to meet every child's individual needs.'

The school has its own website, where you will find much more information:

The Friends of Slaley School (FOSS) is the name of Slaley First School's Parent Teacher Association. We have an open membership which means that as a parent/guardian/teacher of a child at the school you automatically become a member of Friends of Slaley School and are welcome to attend meetings (again, more details can be found on the school's website).

In a recent questionnaire one parent said:

"Slaley First School is a fantastic school in every way.  You have created a wonderful nurturing environment for children to learn, develop and grow." July 2019.

100% of pupils and parents agree that Slaley First School is a safe and happy place to be - Parent & Pupil questionnaire feedback, July 2019.
