How to Comment on an Application
Have your say on local developments. All residents have a right to comment on planning applications, whether in support or objection.
Step 1: Find the Application
Click the View All Slaley Applications link above. Note the Reference Number (e.g., 24/00123/FUL) for the project you are interested in.
Step 2: Submit Your Comments
The most effective way to comment is via the Northumberland Planning Portal.
Search for the Reference Number.
Click the 'Comments' tab.
Log in (or create a quick account) to submit your feedback.
Alternatively, you can email your comments to planningcomments@northumberland.gov.uk, ensuring you quote the Reference Number and your full postal address.
Step 3: Make Your Comment Count
To be legally considered by the Planning Officer, your comments must be based on "Material Planning Considerations." These include:
Traffic and Parking: Increased congestion or road safety issues.
Privacy and Light: Overlooking neighbors or loss of natural light.
Design and Character: Does it fit the look and feel of Slaley?
Nature and Environment: Impact on local wildlife or protected trees.
Noise and Smell: Significant disturbances to the peaceful nature of the area.
Important Note: The Council cannot legally consider things like the loss of a private view, the impact on your property value, or personal grievances between neighbors.
