2022 - Our Centenary Year!
Thank you to everyone who has supported the village hall.
2022 saw Slaley Commemoration Hall celebrate its centenary.
100 years ago, the Hunting family completed the construction of the hall to commemorate the safe return of their sons from the Great War.
100 years to the day we gathered in the hall for an afternoon of music, wine and cake
Regarding the renovation of the hall, the first phase was completed in 2020 and the wonderful new extension - The Community Room - is now also ready for use and proving to be very popular.
The list of fundraisers, donors and grant bodies is so long and extensive. Thank you to everyone who has contributed. We'd like to highlight a couple of lovely examples of fundraising:
the amazing range of donations for the silent auction - especially the trailer load of manure caught bidders attention
and of course the sponsored walk - 60 miles over two days along the beautiful Northumberland coast
The lantern has also been repaired and now sits proudly on the roof of the hall with its woodwork renewed and a glorious coat of red paint.
The beautiful portraits of Mr and Mrs Hunting are now back with us after undergoing some serious repairs and cleaning at the Laing art gallery.
We are also proud to have both Hallmark 1 and 2 accreditation. These are reviewed every three years and will be under the scrutiny of the assessors again soon. The quality standards are for the management and running of the hall and help show that we have good policies and processes in place for anyone wanting to use the hall.
The hall doesn't run itself and the committee/trustees work tirelessly behind the scenes to raise funds, make sure the building is safe and secure and a welcoming place for the community.
Thank you for your ongoing support and we hope to see new faces in the hall as we introduce new events and activities for everyone to enjoy.

Slaley Commemoration Hall Monthly Lottery
The building of Slaley Commemoration Hall was financed by Charles Samuel & Agnes Mona Hunting of Slaley Hall. It opened for business in December 1922, since then the people of Slaley Parish have used, repaired and updated the facilities to make it one of the most attractive community buildings in Northumberland.
As we approach the 100th anniversary of its conception we would like to offer you the opportunity to help us achieve our latest improvement goals by taking a number or numbers in our new, monthly, local lottery.
